The Fraser Institute in their annual report of top schools in BC, recommends these local institutions mere minutes away: Little Flower Academy, York House, Crofton House & St. George’s Senior School are perennial top-ten performers. Plus historic Vancouver College and King David High School constantly rank high in ratings. As part of Vancouver School Board #39, elementary schools in the local catchment include Edith Cavell, Emily Carr & General Wolfe with grades K to 7. With Mandarin language instruction available, there’s also two leading French schools in the Cambie area including École Secondaire Jules Verne and École Rose-Des-Vents Elementary, part of the Counsel Scolaire Francophone de la Columbie-Britannique. The neighbourhood high school with grades 8 – 12 is Eric Hamber Secondary, named after the former Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia.


Location

Situated along the Cambie Corridor, the convenient Cambie neighbourhood is located on Vancouver’s coveted West Side and only 4.2 km from downtown Vancouver and 7.2 km from the Vancouver International Airport. Cambie is located with 41st Avenue to the north, Oak Street to the east, 16th Avenue to the south and Ontario Street demarcates the neighbourhood’s western boundary. The Cambie neighbourhood is not only the centre of the city, but also Vancouver’s high point geographically with Little Mountain and Queen Elizabeth Park.

Shopping & Restaurants

The Cambie Village from 16th to King Edward Avenue is the neighbourhood mecca for restaurants, cafes, boutiques & movie theatre. For the highest quality organics, baked goods and grocery items, Choices Market is a local favourite. At the north end of the neighbourhood coming in 2024 an all-new Oakridge Park, the first phase to re-open with the 2nd largest shopping centre in BC. Key retail stores returning will be Harry Rosen, an Apple Store and Tiffany & Co. Also coming to the new Oakridge is a Time Out Market, similar the one in New York, showcasing a curated collection of the city’s best culinary and cultural experiences. For take-out, dining in or delivery, the Cambie Corridor features restaurants such as Sushi Tonton, Kim Express & Landmark Hotpot House, a recent Chinese Restaurant Awards’ winner for ‘Best Hot Pot Restaurant’. From Cambie Village it’s only 3 minutes to Langara College, 15 minutes to the airport and 17 minutes to Waterfront Station. Cambie Street is a important north/south arterial, providing vehicle access to Richmond, BC Ferries, the US border and Vancouver’s downtown business district.
