With over 50 percent of immigrants in the community, numerous neighbourhood residents come from Hong Kong, China, India, Portugal & Kenya. Home ownership is high in the Burnaby Hospital area with over 60 percent owning their own home. The Central Park neighbourhood in South Burnaby is at the heart of the city. The neighbourhood is adjacent to multiple transportation links, shopping & recreational facilities. Higher density and tower living is close by, further down Kingsway towards Metrotown.

BCIT, the British Columbia Institute of Technology is one of province’s largest post-secondary institutions and is one of the premier polytechnic post secondary schools in Canada. Elementary schools nearby include Douglas Road just off of Canada Way, Cascade Heights, Inman and Chaffey-Burke, Moscrop Secondary School and Burnaby Central Secondary are close-by offering grades 8 to 12.

Another big attraction is Swangard Stadium, host to many international and local sporting events. Green spaces include Avondale Park, a great place to walk your dog. The Discovery Place Conservation Area at Gilmore & Sanderson Way is 1.7 km walk through an urban deciduous forest with unique grasses and wildflowers. Burnaby Hospital in the neighbourhood is one of the largest hospitals outside the City of Vancouver and a 314 bed primary and secondary patient care facility.

The Gilmore Station on the Millennium Line offers quick rapid transit to downtown Vancouver, while the Lougheed Highway and Highway 1 mean easy vehicle access to other parts of the Lower Mainland.
