When it comes to winning real estate sales awards, we usually shy away from the promotional side of things, but this award from Five Star Professionals is truly something special for our team and we want to share it with you, our readers and our clients.
This recognition was awarded to just a handful of Westside Realtors and less than 1% of all Vancouver Real Estate Agents. It recognizes the exceptional service and support that we strive to provide for each and every one of our clients. Its thorough evaluation criteria were focused almost entirely on the quality of service provided by the agent. In its purest sense, this is an unbiased, qualitative award that comes directly from our clients, and we would like to share our sincerest gratitude with each and every one of you!
Before we go into all of the details regarding how we were nominated, evaluated and finally awarded, we want to showcase the ten rigorous criteria on which we were evaluated:

The following is a complete overview of how this survey was conducted and how the recipients were selected. It has been compiled from Five Star’s Website.
Self-nominations were not accepted. Award candidates were identified through nominations received by recent homebuyers. There were six specific steps to identifying the award candidates in Vancouver. They are as follows:
The partnering magazine publications defined the geographical area in which the magazines are distributed. In this particular case, it included Vancouver’s Westside and Downtown Core, as well as North Vancouver and West Vancouver. This is where Vancouver Magazine and Western Living are primarily distributed.
Within this geography, Five Star Professional defined the population of recent homebuyers as area residents who purchased a home priced at more than $150,000 within an 8-month period from September of 2011 to May 2012.
Once the geography and the population of recent homebuyers were determined, the mail and phone data was acquired. The list of recent homebuyers was provided by an outside list provider.
Five Star Professional then administered a survey, by mail and phone, to recent homebuyers. Clients of real estate agents were also able to submit evaluations online. Each respondent was asked to evaluate only real estate agents with whom they have worked and to evaluate them based upon ten rigorous criteria, as previously shown above.
Additionally, respondents were asked whether they would recommend the agent to a friend. All of this information was incorporated into a client scoring algorithm as a cross check against their average rating. Recent homebuyers were able to evaluate up to two real estate agents in order to measure the experience associated with both the purchase and sale side of a move.
Five Star Professional collected all evaluations submitted via mail, phone and through Five Star Professional’s web-based evaluation system. Five Star Professional’s research staff then reviewed evaluations for completeness of required information and to guard against self-nomination.
Each award candidate was matched to a real estate license number from the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver, plus each real estate agent’s license status (active or non-active) and disciplinary history were noted. In order to be named a Five Star Real Estate Agent, an individual needed to be in good standing and hold a current real estate license at the time of the evaluation. Five Star Professional employees identified contact information, using company and other directories.
After the consumer evaluation surveys were received and the real estate agent’s license, regulatory history, and contact information were determined, each real estate agent was given a Client Evaluation Score. Both favorable and unfavorable evaluations were incorporated. Safeguards were put in place to eliminate any bias including; self-nominating, “back-scratching,” and “stuffing the ballot.”
Following the rigorous process of identifying the candidates, Five Star Professional then began its equally thorough selection process, as follows:
Five Star Professional sent each award candidate a letter with instructions to submit information about themselves and their practice, including specific data related to eligibility and selection criteria. They were required to certify the information they provided was accurate.
Award candidates who satisfied the following five objective eligibility and evaluation criteria associated with providing quality services to their clients received the Five Star Real Estate Agent award.
Once the award candidate data forms were collected, candidates were then evaluated based on the 5 eligibility and evaluation criteria outlined above. Five Star Professional finalized the preliminary list of Five Star Real Estate Agents to be less than 1% of all real estate agents in Vancouver.
Five Star Real Estate Agent award winners were notified of their inclusion on the final list of award winners. Those candidates who do not qualify were also notified accordingly.
The contracting magazines (Western Living and Vancouver Magazine) published an article in the March 2013 issues, prepared by Five Star Professional, which described the evaluation process and determination of award winners, and presented the resulting list of Five Star Real Estate Agents. Five Star Real Estate Agents were also listed on fivestarprofessional.com.
It should be noted that real estate agents do not pay a fee to be included in the research process or to be named as a Five Star Real Estate Agent.
