Deer Lake, Deer Lake Place, Upper Deer Lake, Buckingham Heights and Oakland all share the quality of being some of the more desirable and higher-end residential enclaves in South Burnaby. Located in and around Deer Lake, these neighbourhoods have a good selection of mostly single family homes. Situated at the cultural and recreational hub of Burnaby, the Deer Lake neighbourhood is adjacent to the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, the Burnaby Art Gallery and the Burnaby Village Museum with the lovingly restored 1912 C.W. Parker Carousel, formerly located at the PNE. Burnaby City Hall and other City of Burnaby buildings are also located in the beautiful Deer Lake neighbourhood.
Buyers will find an appealing mix of post war rancher styles residences, midsize home from the ’70 and ‘80s, and larger contemporary homes with all the modern luxuries. Deer Lake Park on the neighbourhoods’ doorstep, is a tranquil green city oasis with walking trails, lily pads, civic theatres and art galleries. The popular Burnaby Village Museum takes visitors back a century ago to how Burnaby was in the 1920s. These neighbourhoods are just minutes from the shopping, dining and entertainment of Metrotown on Kingsway, in addition to the Highgate commercial district. Ideal for raising a family, schools here include Morley Elementary with K to 7 and Brantford Elementary with an excellent French Immersion program, Buckingham Heights Elementary. Burnaby South Secondary is but a short drive away. Both Edmunds and Metrotown Skytrain stations are nearby for quick rapid transit to downtown Vancouver or New Westminster and Surrey. The Upper Deer Lake neighbourhood is situated between Highway 1 and Kingsway, both providing vehicles access to Vancouver or other parts of the Lower Mainland.
