Nestled between Burnaby Lake and Burnaby Mountain, the enviable Government Road neighbourhood is centrally located with Lougheed Highway to the north, Gaglardi Way in the east, Burnaby Lake to the south and Kensington Avenue through Burnaby Lake Park in the west. The most common type of housing you’ll find in the Government Road neighbourhood in the single family home, many on substantial size lots with detailed landscaping. There is a small selection of duplexes and townhouses in Government Road. Over 90 percent of the homes in this central Burnaby neighbourhood are owner occupied. Proving the desirability of this Burnaby enclave, singer Michael Bublé is building a mansion style abode on Government Road complete with swimming pool, tennis court and indoor ice rink.

For decades residents of Government Road have enjoyed the shops, services & restaurants of Lougheed Town Centre only a few minutes away. Soon Lougheed will transform to one of the largest shopping destinations in Greater Vancouver, with a magnificent 320 metre long covered outdoor, pedestrian-only galleria. There is a number of big box stores in the Government Road neighbourhood including Costco and Staples. Shopping at Brentwood Town Centre is also a quick drive away along Lougheed Highway. In addition, nearby Burnaby Mountain has Horizons Restaurant, famous for its regional cuisine and stunning views of the city.
Seaforth Elementary on Government Road with grades K to 7 is recognized for its French Immersion Program. For high school students, nearby Burnaby Mountain Secondary is just off Lougheed and Gaglardi Way. Government Road has quick access to downtown Vancouver and east/west destinations with three Skytrain Stations – Sperling, Lake City and Production Way/University. Bus service is also available linking Vancouver and Metrotown.
