Okanagan Falls is a small agriculture based community located on the southern edge of Skaha Lake, one of the warmest lakes in Canada. The region is a temperate desert climate with over 2,000 hours of sunshine yearly that continues to attract people from all across Canada. OK Falls as the locals call it, is a lush region with cherry, peach, apple & apricot orchards. Today its award winning vineyards and wineries have a growing reputation for stellar reviews from wine critics. The following eight areas are the key Okanagan Falls neighbourhoods:

Schools

As a member of School District #53 in the Okanagan Similkameen, Okanagan Falls Elementary School is admired for its teaching resources innovation. With K to 7 classes, programming includes StrongStart and Preschool, SMART Boards in every classroom and a nurturing learning environment. In addition, Kaleden Elementary offers Kindergarten through Grade 5. Middle and high schools students enjoy bus service to Penticton Secondary and Southern Secondary School in Oliver.


Location

Directly situated on the south tip of Skaha Lake, Okanagan Falls and Kaleden next door are located just north of the Great Sonora Desert, readily accessible from Penticton via the highway #97 or the picturesque, winding Eastside Road in BC’s Okanagan Similkameen country. Originally known as Dogtown, Okanagan Falls is a mere 26 km from Penticton, with convenient vehicle access to Kelowna, Oliver & Osoyoos. The warm dry climate is one of the most desirable in the country and is just over a 40 minute drive to the US border. A short hop to Penticton Regional Airport, WestJet and Air Canada offer daily flights to Calgary and Vancouver.

Two of the best value golf courses are located near Okanagan Falls with St. Andrews by the Lake offering a 9 hole executive course at just 2,070 yards. While the Twin Lake Golf Course is an 18 hole track nestled in a scenic valley surrounded by towering rock cliffs. Okanagan Falls Provincial Park created in 1956, now officially named sx̌ʷəx̌ʷnitkʷ Provincial Park, offers camping, cycling, and bird watching featuring rare species such as western wood pewees, American yellow warblers & northern orioles. Naturally Skaha Lake is an idyllic setting for boating, fishing, water skiing or wake boarding.

Transportation

Okanagan Falls is located on Highway 97 at the southern end of Skaha Lake in the south Okanagan, 28 km north of Oliver and 26 km south of Penticton. BC Transit has 5 round trip buses daily to Penticton on route #21. Just 15 minutes from Penticton Regional Airport, daily flights to Calgary and Vancouver are provided by WestJet and Air Canada.
