The nine neighbourhoods in the Northlands-Seymour-Deep Cove area in the District of North Vancouver are all about mountain/sea-side living. Classic BC hiking trails literally outside your front door to nearby golf and skiing, these unique neighbourhoods on the east North Shore include Seymour, Blueridge, Windsor Park, Northlands, Roche Point, Indian River, Dollarton, Deep Cove and the super-secluded Woodlands-Sunshine-Cascade community.


Schools

The nine neighbourhoods located in the Northlands-Seymour-Deep Cove area are all participants in School District 44 in North Vancouver. Homeowners and residents have access to a total of six elementary schools with grades from K to 7. The communities include two high schools with grades 8 to 12 including Windsor and Seycove Secondary. Schools of note for parents include Saint Pius X Elementary – a private school with kindergarten to grade 7. In addition, the Tsleil-Waututh First Nation Child & Family Development Centre provides care and learning for children from six months to five years old.


Location

The Northlands-Seymour-Deep Cove neighbourhoods are east of the Trans Canada in the District of North Vancouver on the North Shore. The northern border of these secluded neighbourhoods includes Lower Seymour Regional Conservation Reserve and Mount Seymour Provincial Park, to the east home of the Dollarton and Deep Cove enclaves, Indian Arm serves as its easter boundary. The southern border is beautiful Burrard Inlet, and Highway 1 often referred to as the Upper Levels Highway is the areas western boundary.


Residential Housing

A wide variety of classic west coast housing options are available on the eastern neighbourhoods of Northlands-Seymour-Deep Cove. In picturesque Deep Cove, the majority are detached homes and cottages, many with waterfront and view properties. Detached houses make up the majority of real estate options in Indian River, with a smaller selection of townhouses, duplexes & condominiums. If green forested los are your passion, the Blueridge neighbourhood sits on the Mount Seymour flank with quiet cul-de-sacs and over 90 percent of single family homes. Take a long drive along Indian River Drive or go by boat and you’ll find beautiful waterfront homes in the exclusive Woodlands-Sunshine-Cascade enclave. For riverfront homes, buyers will be interested in the Seymour neighbourhood with unique properties settled beside the Seymour River. Another quiet neighbourhood is Windsor Park with many homes built beginning in the 1960s, where it’s close to a secondary school and the Ron Andrews Rec Centre. For high end custom built homes, be certain to consider the Northlands neighbourhood with a good selection of custom built homes inspired by the Whistler Cottages.

First and foremost, all residents of the Northlands-Seymour-Deep Cove neighbourhoods have world class hiking, skiing & snowboarding at their very doorstep. The famous Baden Powell trail traverses through this part of North Vancouver from Deep Cove all the way to the Lynn Valley Suspension Bridge. Cates Park located in the Dollarton neighbourhood features a 6km waterfront trail ideal for dog walking and takes you past sandy beaches and beside verdant coastal rainforest. For those who love to tee it up, Northlands is an 18-hole mountain side golf course that’s challenging for duffers and low handicappers. Mount Seymour Provincial Park features four ski lifts with over a thousand feet of vertical drop and approximately 450cm of annual snowfall. The Ron Andrews Recreation Centre in Deep Cove features an indoor swimming, whirlpool, steam & sauna, racquet courts, weight room & more. Of course, kayaking and paddle boarding are popular pursuits in the Deep Cove and Dollarton neighbourhoods.


Restaurants

Arms Reach in Deep Cove is a local award-winning haunt with water views and Mediterranean offerings. Satisfy your sweet tooth at Honey’s Doughnuts in Deep Cove, where since 1996 everything is homemade and family friendly. For morning Joe, the Starbucks in the North Woods Village and Tim Hortons on the Dollarton Highway are a popular choice. For pizza you can’t beat Little Caesar’s in the Parkgate Village. The Seymour neighbourhood has many dining choices including Italian, fast food and coffee shops.


Shopping

Shopping destinations in this part of the North Shore include the Dollarton Plaza with a Super Valu, BC Liquor Store, professional offices and Starbucks. Nester’s Market in the Dollarton Village in Deep Cove is where the locals shop for fresh meat and produce. Stong’s Market a Vancouver west side institution, has a second store in the Northland’s Village along the Dollarton Highway. For major destination retail, the Park and Telford Shopping Centre just off of Mountain Highway features a White Spot, Cineplex Odeon Cinema, Save-On-Foods and over 30 other shops and services.


Transportation

The Dollarton Highway and Mount Seymour Parkway are the two major arterial roads connecting to this area of North Vancouver. With Highway 1 and the Iron Workers Memorial Bridge just minutes away, this provides drivers and commuters access to Horseshoe Bay, Squamish & Whistler to the west and Vancouver, Burnaby & Surrey to the south. Connecting to Seabus at Lonsdale Quay, Translink provides comprehensive bus routes to most of the neighbourhoods in the Northlands-Seymour-Deep Cove communities.
