With more than 50 wineries within twenty minutes of downtown, Osoyoos is desert wine country’s sweet spot – a beach town with charm & culture in the middle of the only living desert in all of Canada. With almost year round golf right in your own backyard, the 36-hole Osoyoos Golf Club sports two 18-hole championship golf courses open to the public. Sonora Dunes is a shorter par-35 track famous for beautifully manicured greens. While Nk’mip Canyon Desert Golf Course is now a world-class 18-hole championship course. The outstanding Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre is a state-of-the-art interpretive centre and an architectural marvel with displays, galleries, hands-on learning and a theatre.
The unique desert grasslands attracts cyclists for high road, back road, off road and BMX biking adventures. Building sand castles and going for a swim on local beaches is de regeur in Osoyoos with Cottonwood Park, Goodman Park & Gyro Beach along Lakeshore Drive. You’ll find Osoyoos Dog Park is an excellent choice for four-leggeds of all sizes. Sẁiẁs Provincial Park at Haynes Point is part of the original territory of the Osoyoos Indian Band and is a popular camping and RV destination. For luxury car and motorcycle enthusiasts, nearby Area 27 Race Track designed by Indycar and F1 champ Jacques Villeneuve, features 16 corners, almost 5 km in length and 250 ft. in elevation change. Foodies everywhere know that Osoyoos is now a true dining destination. From street-side cafes to vineyard views plucked from the pages of a Tuscan travel brochure, Osoyoos has great eating. La Marqueza Mexican Tacos and Campo Marina Italian Restaurant are perennial faves. The Bear, The Fish, The Root & The Berry at Spirit Ridge Resort is the best of local indigenous cuisine. Stretching from California to Alaska, Highway #97 is the vital link to points north and south in Osoyoos. The Canada-US Border Crossing just minutes away is ideal for vehicles and shipping by truck to state-side destinations. Connecting to Highway #3 to southern BC and with Burlington Northern Intermodel railway, modern travel links give local business a competitive advantage. BC Transit provides daily bus service from Osoyoos to Penticton on Route #40 with stops including Penticton Airport, Cherry Lane Shopping Centre & Okanagan College.
