The new strata rules will allow strata councils to vote to use contingency funds for recommendations from the depreciation report using a simple majority instead of a three-quarters of members vote. This will make it easier for strata councils to proceed with repairs instead of getting tied up with voting, which can cause work to be delayed for years. This and a few other changes were asked for by strata associations and help clarify the rules.
